School Programs
Starting in the 1997 school year, the National Museum of the Pacific
War initiated an innovative education program both for visits to
the Museum and for use in schools. Teachers can bring their classes
to the Museum and enjoy docent-guided tours of the facilities and
a living history program at the Pacific Combat Zone. For more information
on scheduling a school tour, go to our School Tours and Teacher Orientation
link.
To support your tour of the museum there are a series of ten Texas
Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) based lesson plans that you
can download prior to your visit. Visit our TEKS based lesson plans
for Educators.
For those schools unable to visit Fredericksburg, a complete array
of other options is available, including visits by the living history
interpreters, WWII veterans, or access to the museum’s traveling footlockers,
which contain a wealth of artifacts from the Pacific War to enable
teachers to bring the 1940s into their classrooms. For more information
on the educational opportunities presented by the National Museum
of the Pacific War contact the Museum Education Director at 830-997-4379,
ext. 227.
