Capital Campaign

The National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas is the only institution in the United States dedicated exclusively to telling the story of the Pacific Theater in World War II. Several years ago the Admiral Nimitz Foundation and the National Museum of the Pacific War began planning for an expanded facility appropriate to the importance of the Pacific War in American history and to the role of the Museum in preserving and communicating that history.

The major components of the expansion are:

  • A 43,000 ft2 addition to the existing George H. W. Bush Gallery to house exhibits and collections
  • A dynamic new 32,500 ft2 complex of exhibits that will engage new generations of visitors in the story of the Pacific War
  • The Center for Pacific War Studies, a curatorial and research facility for the Museum’s collections

The total cost for the three major components of the expansion is $16.5 million. The State of Texas has committed $10.5 million to the project. The Admiral Nimitz Foundation has pledged to raise an additional $6.0 million to complete the building and the Center for Pacific War Studies and to build an endowment that will provide a stable source of funding to meet the increased operating expenses of the expanded facility and its programs.

We invite you to contribute.
